What is CNG?

CNG stands for Compressed Natural Gas which is an abundant and affordable alternative fuel option.  Best of all it’s an American alternative to gasoline.

Why does AVS, LLC. only work with EPA Certified CNG conversions?

The EPA states that it is illegal to tamper with a factory vehicle if it negatively impacts the vehicles emissions.  When a manufacturer gets EPA approval on their system the emissions are improved and you know you are helping the environment as well as your pocket book.

What vehicles can be converted to run on CNG?

Most vehicles can be converted to run on CNG but only domestic (Ford,Chrysler, GM) vehicles have systems approved by the EPA or CARB. For a complete list of vehicles that can be converted legally visit our conversions page.

Can you convert my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado?

Typically we do not convert any vehicles beyond 2009 model year.  The reason of this is that the vehicle will have already experienced significant wear to the engine and other components from running on gasoline.  In addition there aren’t EPA certified systems available and you may not recoup the cost of the conversion being that the price to convert a 2008 would be the same as a 2012.

What does it cost to convert a vehicle to run on CNG with an EPA or CARB certified system?

The cost to convert a vehicle will vary based on the system being used, the fuel capacity desired, the type of vehicle and other factors.  One could expect to pay anywhere from $7000 - $18,000+, depending on the application.

Why should I make the switch to CNG?

CNG is the leading alternative fuel option to reduce America’s dependency on foreign oil, it is on average half the cost of diesel fuel, considerably cleaner than gasoline, we have over a 100 year supply in the U.S.

Is CNG Dangerous?

CNG is safer than gasoline. Because it is lighter than air it will vent into the atmosphere in if in an accident, whereas gasoline will pool on the ground.  CNG also has a higher ignition temperature than gasoline.
